For years, I’ve thought I was alone in my hatred of Alex Trebek. I’d watch Jeopardy, the condescending/evil smirk Alex would give contestants whenever they would risk all their $$ on the Daily Double and get it wrong (and despite that smug look, I’m sure that deep down, Alex knew he didn’t know the answer either!).

My boyfriend, who is great at Jeopardy, thinks I’m crazy: “Who doesn’t like Alex Trebek? He’s the best game show host since Bob Barker. And he’s Canadian. Who doesn’t like Canadians?”

There not too many things I actually dislike. In fact, I am in love with several things that others find annoying—scotch tape, the sound of loud-clackity shoes approaching, people who talk loudly on cell phones (as long as they’re saying something interesting that I can work into a future story).

And so when I say there are two things that I hate, I mean it! I hate Alex Trebek,and I hate mayonnaise!

Foods that combine dessert and dinner are just nasty! These are foods I hate almost as much as I hate mayonnaise!

I just discovered Pepperidge Farm Honey Wheat Whole Grain bread. It’s hardier than my old favorite brand of bread, Nature’s Own, and it has 4 grams of fiber/100 calories per serving. Perfect for mayonnaise-free sandwiches!

I could actually eat this–all of this–but the mayonnaise just sends it over the top.

Apparently, there is a support group for people like me, people with good taste. Together, we will rise against the destroyer of sandwiches ever and issue forth a new era of interesting, delicious-tasting food!

Things I like:
1) runs in Central Park
2) shaking it to old school hip-hop
3) short fiction
4) laughing it up with friends & family

Things I don’t like:
1) mayonnaise
2) Alex “he thinks he knows everything” Trebek

This blog, then, will be devoted to promoting things I like–running, short stories, old school hip-hop, and the goings-on of certain friends/family–while raging a war against the most arrogant game show host who has ever lived and the evils of a certain slimy substance that finds its way into sandwiches!
